Born in 1990 in Alsace, France and trained in music theory and alto saxophone from the age of eight, Pierre quickly discovered an interest in musical ensembles. From the year 2003, he started to play in many local music groups: the French Conservatoire Harmono-Symphonic orchestra, the high school orchestra, the Sax & Diem saxophone band...
During the 2005 spring, at a residency of the Banda de Neira (60 young Colombian musicians) in Sarrebourg, France, Pierre took the opportunity to participate in common musical practice workshops and a few concerts. Through this musical exchange, he developed a passion for Latin and classical music.
He joined the "Orchestre Philharmonique des Vosges du Nord" in 2009 where he performed nearly eighty concerts in seven years (classical, baroque and contemporary music).
Since 2012, curious about exchange and always listening, he is deepening his musical knowledge by travelling in Africa
(Senegal, Ivory Coast, Burkina Faso, Togo, Benin, Cameroon, Gabon, Ethiopia, Congo, DR Congo, Rwanda), Asia (India,
China, Taiwan), Mexico and USA (New Orleans, Lafayette, San Francisco...) in research of new sounds.
He draws his inspiration from the confluences of the different cultures and traditions that he has encountered and
creates in 2014 with a trumpet player friend, a jazz quintet, the Blue Line
based on a relatively unknown instrument, the handpan.
They release their first studio album "Dans les couloirs du temps", at the end of 2019.
During autumn 2015, he joins the CHRIS' Bigband,
a jazz bigband like the Duke Ellington's one, as a saxophonist and soloist.
Since then, his musical experiences have followed one after the other according to his desires and curiosity, with the Pil & Faces
quartet, performing at various Club Med Resorts in France and Africa, while also trying gypsy jazz, reggae or folk music.
He has performed in many festivals in France such as: Festival Au grès du Jazz, the Dîners Insolites, the Nuit des Musées, Festival Jazz Pote, Jazz au Village and also in Abidjan (Ivory Coast)...
Pierre Seyer collaborates with artists such as: Franck Wolf, Paquito Lorier, Stephan Party, René De Smaele, Federico Palacios, Prokop...
